This is using Microsoft Office Pro 2003 (or, 2003 pro ?)<br /><br />I completely exited Word and killed it off, then restarted it. The rectangular-select problem where the Research Explorer pane pops up is still there.<br /><br />But lately (even before I put the red &quot;x&quot; in the installation option for Research Explorer Bar), it hasn&#39;t been doing it on most rectangular selections. Only the times that my selection is one column of text in width. I&#39;ve tried playing with the sequence of clicking the mouse, and the Alt key. No way to make the darned thing totally vanish ...
