AutoCAD 2019

The newest release of AutoCAD is AutoCAD 2019, codenamed "Pi" with official release March 22, 2018. This is the 33nd version of AutoCAD.

As of March 22nd, 2018 subscribers will no longer have to access AutoCAD vertical functionality through separate offerings – by subscribing to AutoCAD, customers will now have access to the capabilities of multiple AutoCAD vertical toolsets in one AutoCAD.

Remember AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD Map 3D, etc?

Missing in above is Civil 3D. Question is how many customers will find this worth the increase in cost. If you had Mechanical before, do you have a need for Architecture?

The only big new feature is DWG Compare.

The green and red graphics highlight the differences between the first version of the drawing (green) and the second version (red). All unchanged elements are shown in grey.

Shared Views replaces the Design Feed as Autodesk A360 has been deprecated.

Autodesk Network license Manager 11.14.1.3 for Autodesk 2019 products

Autodesk Network License Manager 11.14.1.3 is now available and required when using Autodesk 2019 products like AutoCAD 2019.

Starting with version v11.13.1.2, the default installation folder has changed to C:\Autodesk\Network License Manager. If you had any licensing service configured earlier with previous versions of the Network License Manager, you will have to re-configure them after installing the latest version of the NLM (starting with v11.14.1.3) due to a change in the default install location of the NLM binaries.

In LMTOOLS on the System Settings tab the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses can be seen separately now.

On the Config Services tab there is a new checkbox “FlexNet Licensing Service Required”. It is required for optional features such as virtualization and trusted storage.

AutoCAD 2018.1.2 Update

Another update for AutoCAD 2018 is here. AutoCAD 2018.1.2 is available to download from your Autodesk Accounts page or using the Autodesk Desktop App. This update is also available for AutoCAD LT.

Details from the Readme:

The AutoCAD 2018.1.2 Update contains all of the updates previously released for AutoCAD 2018.

AutoCAD Updates can be applied to AutoCAD installed as a standalone application and AutoCAD-based vertical products. You can install the AutoCAD update in addition to any applicable updates for your vertical products listed below.

After applying this patch, the Product Version in the About box will be listed as O.161.0.0 AutoCAD 2018.1.2 Update. If you use one of the vertical products, the Built On version will be listed as O.161.0.0 AutoCAD 2018.1.2 Update. _VERNUM returns "O.161.0.0 (UNICODE)" (read only). When installed it shows up as version 22.0.161.0 in the list of installed updates in Windows.

As a result of the detailed information that we received from customers who used the Customer Error Reporting Utility, we were able to identify and fix several defects with the following results:

Point Cloud

• Occasional crashes when adding color schemes to point clouds no longer occur.

General

• Occasional crashes when detaching external references in some visual styles no longer occur.
• Occasional crashes when importing or attaching DGN drawings with some spline types no longer occur.
• Occasional crashes when getting the UCS coordinate values from a dimension no longer occur.

Several additional defects have been fixed with the following results:

Display

• The image of a Web URL in the drawing displays correctly.

Model Documentation

• No error dialog box displays after completing certain Model Documentation commands.

MText

• The characters show correctly when using double-byte characters with certain settings.

PDF / Plot

• PDF files plotted using certain visual styles display correctly.
• The plot result remains correct after changing the visual style in model space.

General

• Object snap settings remain turned on during view editing commands.
• AutoCAD startup time and network drive scanning speed are improved.
• The dynamic input tooltips for dimensions display correctly on all supported operating systems.

JTB CAD Automation Tools 5.5 for BricsCAD

JTB CAD Automation Tools 5.5 for BricsCAD is available on the BricsCAD Application Store as well as on our website. Installer for usage with BricsCAD is now available as well as support for BricsCAD 15 up to BricsCAD 18. Block handles have been added for AutoUpd, in cases there are 2 or more blocks of same name, this handles row helps to identify and populate changes to each block accordingly. The app is for AutoCAD too but still in version 5.3 but will soon be updated as well, beta is available upon request.

With JTB CAD Automation Tools multiple drawings can be automatically created from a typical drawing or updated based on a control file that can be created with an Excel template. Make the changes in Excel and let the program do all the work for you. This is a real time saver if you need to make adjustments on hundreds or thousands of drawings.

Example of usages: Add a stamp block; insert a title block; update text or attributes in the title block; insert text, block or xref; change text or attribute values and more. Change all external references (xrefs) from absolute paths to relative paths for archive purpose. Find and replace attribute or text values.

AutoGen has been used by customers creating instrumentation drawings, loop diagrams (loop drawings), schematics in an automated way based on data in a spreadsheet.

JTB BatchAttEdit 2.0 for AutoCAD attributes editing

JTB BatchAttEdit 2.0 is now available and comes with several new features and bugs fixes.

Now you can export/import block attribute data to and from Excel so you can modify the data even further like renumbering, doing find and replace and much more. With filter functionality it’s easier to handle drawings with a lot of attributes. Find block on screen and Zoom to selected block can be done.

This batch attribute editor app for AutoCAD collects attributes in all blocks of specified name patterns in multiple drawings and display in a wide spreadsheet. Then you can edit attribute texts as easy as working with Excel. Once done, click "Apply Attribute Changes" to update values to drawings.

This makes it a great app to for example edit title block attributes across many drawings instead of having to do it one drawing at a time.
