Sheet Set Manager workaround to use backslash in sheet title

“Do you have a workaround for “\” to be accepted on sheet titles used with the Sheet Set Manager?”

Yes I do. Try any of these three alternatives: ⧵⧹\

Just copy and paste one of them. Works with layout names and file names too. Should work with the Sheet Set Manager in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, GstarCAD or NanoCAD.

Update Autodesk Desktop App to avoid being exposed to hackers

If you do have Autodesk Desktop App installed you should update it now if you have 7.0.16.29 and earlier installed.

CVE-2019-7365, was discovered in the Autodesk desktop application. The desktop app -- AdAppMgrSvc.exe -- is related to Autodesk software from 2017 to the present day and runs with NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. A missing DLL call made by an accompanying library also permitted the loading of arbitrary DLLs. In addition, there is no digital certificate validation, and so unsigned DLLs can be executed.

"After an attacker gains access to a computer, he might have limited privileges which can limit access to certain files and data," the researchers say. "The service provides him with the ability to operate as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM which is the most powerful user in Windows, so he can access almost every file and process which belongs to the user on the computer."

Autodesk said, "Autodesk released a patch for CVE-2019-7365 on 27 November for Autodesk Desktop Application (ADA) users. We highly recommend that customers apply the latest update for ADA by clicking the update button on the application. A security advisory with more information is available on the Autodesk Trust Centre."

JTB OffsetInXref 2.1 to offset nested lines

JTB OffsetInXref can be used with AutoCAD to enable the OFFSET command to work with externally referenced drawings, blocks, and lines within associated arrays, dimensions and tables.

  • Once loaded, the standard OFFSET command will work with blocks and externally referenced content: instead of responding "Cannot offset that object.", the app will automatically copy the selected object into the current drawing, allowing it to participate with the OFFSET command.
  • The lowest-level object will be selected, if part of a nested Xref or block, but some objects - such as Hatches - will still cause the "Cannot offset that object" prompt to be displayed.
  • The app can either have the OFFSET command create geometry on the current layer (the default) or the source layer. The XOFFSETLAYER command allows configuration of this option.

Version 2.1 comes with the added ability to move offset nested entity to the container's layer if its layer is "0".

Free trial available at JTB OffsetInXref.
