I was having this problem, too. Civil 3d 2010 would almost finish and then terminate/rollback leaving me frustrated and angry for spending hours trying to reload the software onto a freshly formatted and re-installed operating system. I found several blogs discussing the same issue and after several attempts, I simply copied all the contents of the installation disks to the hard drive, moved the full directories of disks 2 and 3 into the folder of disk 1 EXCEPT FOR the files called MID.txt. The software installed flawlessly.
