Windows Live Writer bug with link to source picture

I found that the latest Windows Live Writer Beta (WLW Build 14.0.5025.904) sometimes have a problem with Link to Source Picture not working as expected. It is supposed to open the source image when you click on it but for some reason it does not work.

Here is a workaround to solve this problem.

  • Open up the recently posted post.
  • Select the image.
  • Select Link to and set it to none.
  • Then set it to Source Picture.
  • Publish the post again.

Solved and now it works as expected. Not sure though what triggers this problem because it can happen on just some of the images in a blog post.

  1. Thanks for the feedback. Do you have a set of repro steps to show how to get in this state? Is it possible it involves dragging and dropping the image around the post? (Please e-mail me at joe.cheng *AT* microsoft.com with any replies)

  2. I have the same version. The problem I have is that I usually link images to a URL of the site or the service I blog about. However, when I publish the post the link is changed to the image source and not the URL.

The work around is that I have to edit the post and change the link to the URL using wordpress's admin section.

I have wordpress 2.6 installed. If someone can help me with this issue that would be great.

    Thanks in advance

  3. Pali, check out the "Link to" options on the image sidebar. You want to change Source Image to URL.
